University Community Collaborative Joins other Philly youth organizations to speak out against injustice in the criminal justice system
On Saturday, Dec 7 the Students For Mumia coalition held a youth forum about the school to prison pipeline, mass incarceration and the case of Mumia Abu Jamal at the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia. Young activists and leaders from a variety of schools andorganizations joined a panel discussion to address these issues. Staff and participants from the Collaborative were represented on the panel. Additionally, POPPYN, the Collaborative’s youth media crew, screened their recent segment about the school to prison pipeline. Nearly 100 people attended the event and Students For Mumia is continuing to organize similar programs in the community.
