After a successful pilot year, Youth on Board, in partnership with five other community based organizations in the City, is collaborating with Boston Public Schools District to bring action civics to life in the classroom! This project introduces high school civics students to 6 organizations and exposes students to the organizing work happening in their own communities. Students will have the opportunity to choose organizations to partner with as they complete a participatory action research project. These students will engage with their peers around issues including student rights, youth jobs, environmental justice, and more through survey research, field observations, interviewing, and power analysis. As a result of this project, 400 students will experience action civics and be part of making real change within their communities and schools.
